Erected in 1718—34 to the design of N. Gerbel, G. Chiaveri, G. Mattarnovi and M. Zemtsov, the building was originally to house the first Russian museum.
Over 1 million articles telling about lifestyle of different peoples of the world. Many of them are unique.
The museum's collections reflect the history and culture of the peoples of Asia, Africa, America and Australia.
Open: 11.00 - 16.30. Closed on MON and on the last THU of every month.
